History

Lucid Dreams (2003-2005)

The band recorded the 6 track EP Dark Rain Beautiful in the spring of 2004 under the name Lucid Dreams. The EP was released in December 2004, on the night of their first public concert.

The Great Outdoors (2005-2006)

Three weeks after the release of Dark Rain Beautful, the band was contacted by the Norwegian guitarist Ronni Le Tekrø, who offered the band a record deal with his label Studio Studio Music. The Great Outdoors EP was recorded at Tekrø's Studio Studio in Toten in the summer of 2005, and released in May 2006. During the sessions at Studio Studio, Lucid Dreams was renamed Rover, and the EP was released under the new name.[3]

The Illumination (2006-2011)

After the release of The Great Outdoors, Rover ended the cooperation with Studio Studio, and began working with Norwegian producer Andreas Eide Larsen. The team travelled to Riga, Latvia where they recorded the foundation of what was to become their debut album.[4] The production lasted almost 3 years, and in the fall of 2009 the band released a limited number of promotional copies in an effort to attract record labels.[5] In February 2010, Rover was given the MP-Award for Best Up and Coming artist. The MP-Award is an effort by the Norwegian music magazine Musikk Praksis to shed light on new and exciting acts.[6] In May 2010, the band released their third EP Perfect Violation which included a re-recording of their trademark song "The Sound of Storms to Come" previously released on The Great Outdoors. In February 2011, the Rover released their fourth EP I Am Man (A Call For Unity), and at the same time announcing April 4 as the releasedate for their debut album The Illumination.[7]

Interdiciplinary work

In October 2010, the UFO documentary The Day Before Disclosure was released for free online streaming by Norwegian film company New Paradigm Films. The film company is part owned by Troll, and he is credited as art director, animator, co-writer, co-director and co-editor of the film.[8] The film features musical themes taken from The Illumination, and Silver is credited as musical director and sound designer. The song Realign, taken from The Illumination is played during the end credits of the film, and was made available for free download through the band's MySpace page.[9]
